Gently Protecting Hair in a Stressful World

The Power of Aloe & Tannic Acid in Sai Zen Natural Volume Shampoo

“Lately, I feel like I’m losing more hair.”
“My hair doesn’t have the same volume as before.”
“Chemical shampoos don’t work with my sensitive skin.”

If this resonates with you, you are not alone. In today’s stress-filled world, reduced blood flow and scalp discomfort are often considered contributing factors to thinning hair and hair loss. Sai Zen’s Natural Volume Shampoo was developed to gently support scalp and hair wellness with the power of botanicals.

A Shampoo Born from Love for My Mother

Sai Zen’s shampoo was originally created for my mother, who has sensitive skin and could not use typical chemical-based shampoos. I wanted to design something “gentle enough for even a baby”.

Drawing on more than 28 years as a hairstylist, I selected herbs traditionally used to support scalp comfort and hair fullness, along with ingredients that have been reported in clinical studies to encourage a healthy scalp environment. My goal was to create a shampoo that harnesses the natural power of plants, helping hair feel soft, balanced, and naturally voluminous from the roots.

The Natural Power Within Sai Zen

Sai Zen products are enriched with many herbal ingredients known to support scalp and hair health.

In this article, I’d like to highlight two key ingredients especially valuable for those living in today’s stressful world: Aloe and Tannic Acid.

Egyptian records describe Aloe as the “plant of immortality,” and it has been used for centuries for skin and scalp comfort.

In the context of scalp care, Aloe is appreciated for:

  • Helping balance scalp pH, which can be disrupted by stress
  • Soothing irritation to keep the scalp comfortable
  • Supporting microcirculation to deliver nutrients to the roots
  • Keeping pores clear for a cleaner, healthier scalp environment

By calming stressed skin and maintaining balance, Aloe helps create the foundation for hair that looks fuller, shinier, and more resilient.

Tannic Acid – Supporting Scalp & Hair Wellness

Tannic acid is a type of polyphenol naturally found in plants such as aloe, tea, and wine. Its relatively small molecular size allows it to interact deeply at the cellular level.

  • Traditionally recognized for helping maintain a balanced hair growth cycle*
  • Valued for its antioxidant and soothing properties, which support a healthy scalp environment*

By protecting and nourishing scalp cells, tannic acid helps support the natural rhythm of the hair cycle. This makes it a valuable botanical for those seeking to maintain fuller, stronger, and healthier-looking hair—despite the challenges of modern-day stress.
